Ongoing Exhibit - "Fifteen Preludes to Lyonia"

Arts on Douglas Gallery
New Smyrna Beach, Florida

Selected images from this portfolio can be seen at Arts on Douglas. This body of work was created at the Lyonia Preserve in Deltona, Florida. The Lyonia Preserve is a 360-acre joint project of Volusia County's Land Acquisition and Management Division and the Volusia County School Board to restore and maintain a scrub habitat. Since 1994, restoration efforts have been made to remove overgrown sand pines and open up the understory, creating bare sand areas with low-growing vegetation preferred by scrub species.

"Images of Florida" is an exhibit of images from several different portfolios created from the 1980's to 2011. I have worked to create a sense of what I found in each location photographed and how the different seasons and lighting conditions can affect what you see and how it has been photographed. Florida has a unique, serene, sometimes lush and sometimes sparse landscape. At times this offers you a chance for an abstract image and other times it offers you an opportunity for a classic image. Both may be found in this exhibit.
