Firemarkings

These images were taken just after one of the largest forest fires raged through Central Florida. It destroyed undeveloped forested areas as well as highly developed areas. When I first began photographing, my initial reaction was how silent everything was. It was as if all the air and life had been sucked out of the land. But within a few days of photographing, I noticed light green leaves and undergrowth beginning to appear. Small animals and birds were coming back and behaving as they normally would.
